I'm wondering if you can use "as" with non-values. ie, something like this... function my_function (value1, value2, value3) { if ((value1 as int) === 1) { return value2; } if ((value2 as int) === 1) { return value3; } return null; } I get an error saying... "TypeError: Cannot call a class as function" I'm also trying to figure out which one of these options is correct: if ((value1 as int) === 1) { if ((value1) === 1) { if ((value1) === 1) { A: Yes, you can. The expression value1 as int is equivalent to the expression (value1 as int), and also equivalent to the expression value1. As in your example, value1 and value1 as int are equivalent. A: Yes, you can use it in non-value position. You just need to know that as of ES6, it has a new concept - in operator. It basically means you can't do that things in old as/is syntax anymore, instead of using in operator. But that doesn't mean you are not allowed to use as syntax. You can do this: if ((value1 as int) in {1,2,3}) { // value1 is 1,2 or 3 } And this is how you can use it in non-value position like this: function myFunction(value1, value2, value3) { const result = value1 as int; 1cb139a0ed
